From medieval manuscripts to modern literature, our Archives and Special Collections span over 900 years of history and include archives, rare books and manuscripts that are of regional, national, and international significance. Explore Special Collections Online to discover our collections.

Unlocking our sound heritage is a UK-wide project that will help preserve and provide access to as much as possible of the nation’s rare and unique sound recordings before they become unreadable and are effectively lost.

The East Midlands Oral History Archive was originally funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to establish the first large-scale archive of oral history recordings for Leicestershire & Rutland.

History Day contributions
